Norwich PCP runs an annual First Response Course. It has 2 aims:
- To develop the leadership and teamwork skills of those attending, and allow them to put them into practice in interprofessional teams.
- To teach those attending how to respond to medical emergencies as bystanders, in a safe and effective manner.
Attendees are given training in leadership, teamwork, communication, the primary survey, and reaction-to-stress. They then put their training into practice in a number of highly realistic training simulations. Throughout the entire course they work in small teams, and have a dedicated mentor who gives written and verbal feedback on their leadership and teamwork skills.
