Norwich PCP runs an annual First Response Course.  It has 2 aims:

  1. To develop the leadership and teamwork skills of those attending, and allow them to put them into practice in interprofessional teams.
  2. To teach those attending how to respond to medical emergencies as bystanders, in a safe and effective manner.

Attendees are given training in leadership, teamwork, communication, the primary survey, and reaction-to-stress.  They then put their training into practice in a number of highly realistic training simulations.  Throughout the entire course they work in small teams, and have a dedicated mentor who gives written and verbal feedback on their leadership and teamwork skills.
